SYFA Board Cancel 19s Scottish Cup

By Neil Paterson

Scottish Cup Cancelled

Good afternoon,

This email has been sent to all Club and League Secretaries: please ensure to share it with all impacted teams.

Following extensive Board-level discussion and the recent Scottish Government and Joint Response Group updates in relation to the ongoing restrictions and football suspensions, the Board has reached the decision that the 19s and 21s 2020/21 InspireSport Scottish Youth FA Cup will not go ahead.

As was the case in relation to the cancellation of the younger age groups’ competition, the Board delayed making this decision until now to allow for improvements to the Covid pandemic and resulting loosening of restrictions. We had previously hoped that there may be scope for the competition to go ahead at these older age groups due to the lower number of participants, however unfortunately the ongoing restrictions mean that this will not be possible.

We understand that this news will be greatly disappointing to both players and volunteers, however we hope that you understand the rationale behind our decision.

Cup fees paid for the 2020/21 InspireSport Scottish Youth FA Cup will automatically transfer over to next season’s Cup, meaning there will be no Cup entry fee to pay next season.

Kind Regards,

The Board of the Scottish Youth FA
